Tawney CollinsChildbirth Eduction Instructor - Tawney Collins

Tawney has been teaching our childbirth classes at Westside Women's Care for 2 years now. In addition to her classes she works as a labor and delivery nurse at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. Tawney has worked at Lutheran for 11 years with the last 8 years spent on labor and delivery. Tawney likes to keep her classes light and discuss reality. One of her class participants wrote "Tawney makes it interesting and clear" Tawney brings her great personality and sense of humor to the classes.

Kim MaddockChildbirth Eduction Instructor - Maddock

 

Kim Maddock has coordinated and taught the childbirth education classes at Westside Women’s Care since the program was started in 1998. Kim became certified through Lamaze International in 1995 as a childbirth educator. Kim is a registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner and has worked at WWC since 2001. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 17 years prior to working at Westside.

Erica

Childbirth Instructor - GillesbyErica Gillesby is the most recent addition to Westside Women’s Care family. While working as a tech at Lutheran Medical Center Labor and Delivery, she graduated from Regis University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. She currently works as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and teaches the Childbirth Prep Class at both WWC offices. Erica describes herself as “energetic and passionate” and she believes in empowering women to “take charge” of their labor by being educated and knowledgeable

Julie StretzChildbirth Eduction Instructor -  Julie Stretz

Julie joined WWC in the summer of 2008 as a Childbirth Education instructor. She has worked with the providers at WWC since 1997 when she came to work at Lutheran as a postpartum nurse. Her background includes over 8 years of experience as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Lutheran as well. Though she no longer works on L&D, she continues to teach fetal monitoring to the L&D nurses at the hospital. Currently, Julie works in the surgery center at Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine caring for infertility patients, and she attends graduate school at UC Denver, studying to become a Women’s Health nurse practitioner.

Julie is happily married and has two children, both delivered at Lutheran by WWC doctors and midwifes! When she’s not working or studying, she enjoys involving herself in her children’s activities. Her hobbies become whatever the family is involved in, including raising their new puppy, caring for their variety of pets (lizards and snake) and basement remodeling. She loves being a karate and soccer mom!

Julie is passionate about education and loves teaching for WWC. She strives to make her class both informative and entertaining. Her goal is to help her patients make informed decisions so they can actively participate in their care and have the best delivery experience possible. She loves surrounding herself with expectant couples and their excitement and energy for what lies ahead……the wonderful joys of parenthood!
