HELPFUL HINTS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY
1) No hot tubs, saunas, tampons, douches or enemas.
2) Low impact exercise and low impact aerobics are fine.
3) Do not smoke, drink alcoholic beverages or use drugs.
4) Reduce caffeinated beverages (i.e. coffee, tea and soda).
IF YOU GET . . . . . .
Headaches: Drink plenty of fluids, rest and eliminate
caffeine. If your headache persists, you may Tylenol, one to
two to relieve discomfort.
Colds: Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids,
and eat healthy foods. If you have a persistent cough, use
Triaminic or Robitussin cough syrup. Use plan Sudafed to
relieve a runny or stuffy nose. We would like you to use as
little medications as possible.
Heartburn: This is very common in pregnancy. If it
should become too bothersome, try using antacids such as
Tums, Rolaids or Mylanta. If you are feeling a great deal of
heartburn in your last few months of pregnancy please call
our office.
Nausea: Nausea is common for women in the first three
months of pregnancy. Should you have nausea try these tips.
Eat six smaller meals a day and avoid spicy foods. You may
try taking vitamin B6, 25-30 mg, three times daily. Take
prenatal vitamins before bedtime following a snack.
Cramping: During your pregnancy it is common to have
mild cramping or mild pelvic pain. This is caused by the
uterus expanding and growing with the fetus. Should your
cramping be prolonged for a period of time or be accompanied
by spotting or bleeding, please contact our office at

* The FDA recommends that pregnant women eat hard cheeses.
If you choose to eat soft cheeses cook them until they boil.
Also use only pasteurized dairy products.
